Fans who are afraid that the upcoming The Witcher Netflix series will stray away from the theme of the games can rest assured. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, known for writing and producing Marvel's The Defenders and Daredevil, promises on Twitter that the show will not be "watered down".

She wrote this in a reaction to a fan, who posted his concerns [apologies for the spelling]:

"I hope they don't water down the harsh environmant that were medival times. The world of the Witcher is not a nice fantasy world where everyone is happy. Geralt as a voice of reason is fine, the world beeing a believeable version of medival Poland is important."

Hissrich also posted on Twitter that the show is still "really early" in its production process and that "there's a long path ahead of casting and locations and world-building. Right now, it's me, the books, lots of great and knowledgeable partners, and my well-loved computer."

"If this little sojourn to Toussaint is to be our final adventure with the silver-haired monster slayer, then it's a fitting conclusion."
