UK: Sony enjoyed best PS4 Black Friday since launch

Last week saw very strong sales across the board for the UK video games industry as it went down as the strongest week of the year to date (up 89% in volume compared to last week, 53% in revenue). Hardware was a big seller as evident by the strong placements of bundled games in the software charts.

Surprisingly and somewhat shocking is that fact that PSVR enjoyed a week on par with its launch, in fact, it equalled the combined sales of the previous 18 weeks in this week alone. No doubt thanks to new bundling (that saw PlayStation VR Worlds rocket up the charts).

Combined hardware sales of PS4 and Xbox One units were up 3% compared to last year, though judging by the charts this was mainly Sony's doing. There's no official mention on how Nintendo Switch did in this all important sales week, but perhaps that's mainly down to the fact that there's no previous Black Friday to compare to and Chart-track generally doesn't publish outright comparison between different consoles.
