When Rockstar revealed Grand Theft Auto V's Smuggler's Run expansion last week, they mostly focused on telling us about the new missions and vehicles that would be included in it, but it turns out they "forgot" to mention a very interesting new mode.
The expansion includes a new mode called Motor Wars. Rockstar themselves say it's a mix of Drop Zone and Penned In, but we can make another very simple comparison - PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. Here, up to four opposing teams will parachute into a periodically shrinking area, and must look for guns, explosives, and weaponised vehicles if they want to survive. That should sound very familiar to most of you.
Not that we're complaining. We've been wondering which AAA game would dip its toe into "Battle Royale" first (not counting The Division's Last Stand), and now we know. It'll be interesting to see what players think of the new mode and how it compares to Bluehole's incredibly popular early access game.
Is GTA the perfect series for this, or are you waiting for another game to implement it?
