The Entertainment Retailer's Association, also known as ERA, has provided some interesting information about the best-selling entertainment products and, by extension, games sold in the UK (courtesy of GamesIndustry.biz), and these figures have revealed that Grand Theft Auto V is the UK's best-selling boxed game of the year as things stand, according to GfK data.
The sales stand at 334,280, which sits just above Ghost Recon: Wildlands at 311,792. Horizon: Zero Dawn isn't doing too bad for itself either, with 286,538 units, nor is Resident Evil at 190,545. It's important to note, though, that this includes only boxed games, not digital downloads, otherwise games like PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds would no doubt have made an impact on things.
In the US, however, Grand Theft Auto V sits behind Wildlands, as well as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Ubisoft's For Honor, so it's still up there, just not quite as good.
ERA also said that, combining estimates with G4K data, video games made roughly £1.44 billion during the first half of the year, which is an 8.4% increase over the same period last year.
