Zombie 'Godfather' George Romero dies at 77 to lung cancer

The legendary filmmaker was behind Night of the Living Dead.

Legendary film director George Andrew Romero has died of lung cancer at the age of 77 with his family, this past Sunday. Romero is regarded as the founder of the modern horror genre with Night of the Living Dead in 1968, adding to that in 1978 with Dawn of the Dead, influencing literature, games, and films to this day.

Fans of Call of Duty: Black Ops will be familiar with Romero as one of the playable characters from the Call of the Dead expansion.

We wish Romero's family and all the mourners our sincerest and deepest condolences.
