Among the various pre-installed games set to be included on the new Nintendo Classic Mini: SNES is, for the first time, a game that was never released on the 1992 console, Star Fox 2. It inclusion not surprised many fans, but even some of the people who made it.

It's currently unclear which version of the game will actually be included, as it was never released back in the day, and thus Games Industry decided to contact one of the original game developers, Dylan Cuthbert, to find out more.

In fact, it seems as though Cuthbert wasn't even told by Nintendo that the game will feature on the Mini SNES, although it wasn't an issue for the developer. Indeed he seems particularly curious to find out which version of the game will actually be published.

"I didn't know about it at all," Cuthbert told the site. "We don't have any work happening with Nintendo right now so there wouldn't have been an NDA-safe way of letting me know anyway. On the other hand, I got to have a big awesome surprise like everyone else so I'm quite happy about that.

"It's an absolutely awesome feeling. Incredible really. Perhaps a first in the games industry even."

According to the dev's best guess, the version we are going to play is likely to be the mastered edition, which - as it turns out - was the one that was about to be completed before development was shut down due to the changing landscape of that console generation. We'll find out either way on September 29, when Nintendo Classic Mini: SNES will be officially available.
