The relative lack of top-tier first-party titles shown by Microsoft during their E3 press briefing has been widely discussed, with the company admitting their intention to only highlight games that are relatively close to completion. That, though, means that there are many games in the works that remain unannounced.

"It's a fine balance of how much do you show early," marketing boss Aaron Greenberg said coming off the back of discussing Scalebound, a game that was shown early but ultimately was cancelled because, despite best intentions, sparks don't always fly. "I can tell you that there are a lot of other projects happening for Xbox, with a lot of big titles that we're not talking about today."

Let's, for a moment, speculate as to what these unannounced games might be. For starters there's Halo 6 and possibly even Halo: ODST 2 (maybe we're just dreaming about that one, though), the next Gears of War is an obvious candidate (although one that's doubtless a long way off), as is any game drawn from Rare's library of classic IPs.

Beyond that, there are always Forza games in the pipeline. Something Fable-related seems unlikely given the demise of Lionhead (although they might be able to find a new home for the IP, so we're not ruling anything out), but what about a new project from Playdead, or maybe even a new Alan Wake game? We know that the company is planning to celebrate Age of Empires at Gamescom, so a new game in the strategy series is also a possibility.

One thing we know for sure, there won't be a second Sunset Overdrive. Although Greenberg did drop the obligatory "never say never", he did say that "at this time, we just made the one game."
