For the last few years, the PC version of Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer series hasn't been up to the same standard as its console counterparts, with PC users complaining that not enough effort was put into their version of the game. However, one of the very first announcements for PES 2018 on PC this year was the promise of "substantial enhancements in graphics and content, meeting quality standards and ensuring parity across all current-gen platforms."

This led us to ask PES head Adam Bhatti about the PC version yesterday at E3, and here's how he puts it:

"We're finally bringing the PC to the level of PS4 and Xbox One. The past few years it's been kind of a hybrid in between PS3 and PS4, so to speak," Bhatti admits, although he offers some good news for PC players by confirming that the console versions of PES 18 won't necessarily be the best this time.

"This year we're going all out; actually if you've got a really good PC, you can take it beyond what the PS4 and Xbox One can actually handle. We've actually got some machines here, people has seen it as well, we're using Nvidia's Geforce tech which obviously is industry-leading (and very expensive!), but if you have that rig, the game looks fantastic".

Konami has actually been showing PES 2018 on both PS4 and PC in Los Angeles, a testament to how confident they are as to the quality offered by the PC version. That said, the online beta will only take place on PS4 and Xbox One, in late July. Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 will then release on September 14, and you can read our E3 impressions here.
