Destiny 2 is not going to be on Steam, Blizzard's Mike Morhaime confirmed earlier this evening, as he outlined the studio's plans to launch the game on Blizzard's Battle.net platform (although, it's not really called that anymore).

"As Destiny fans, we were excited to learn that the sequel was coming to PC," Morhaime said. "We're pleased to support Destiny 2 as the first non-Blizzard game on our platform, and we look forward to joining fellow Guardians in their fight against the Red Legion."

This will be the first time that Bungie's new shooter series has appeared on PC, as the first game only released on current and old-gen consoles. This time around Bungie is hoping to put things right by including 4K support, an uncapped frame-rate, text chat (GG), an adjustable FoV, and even custom key mapping.

On top of that, we'll be able to tinker with all sorts of graphical settings, which should make the shooter viable to a wide-range of PC players when it lands alongside its counterparts on PS4 and Xbox One on September 8.

Update: Geoff Keighley has thrown a cat among the pigeons by suggesting that the September 8 release date doesn't include PC, writing: "Destiny 2 is "coming soon" to PC, @Bungie not saying that means Sept 8."

Later he added that: "Bungie is committed to doing the PC version right, more news down the road on release date."

We'll update you when we know more.
