In upcoming game Aftercharge one team is invisible, while the other is invincible. How does that work? We asked Chainsawesome Games' Laurent Mercure just that, and much more.

"It's a 3v3 game, an online competitive game, in which one side is invisible and the other side is invincible", explains Mercure. "There are six structures on the map called Extractors, the robots, the invisible team wants to destroy them, and the other team, who are invincible, want to defend them."

The result of this setup is a game that really favours teams that are playing well together and use strategy. The Robots also have overcharge abilities, which are basically special abilities (one for each type) that you can charge by sacrificing one player.

At PAX East, Chainsawesome Games showed off an early build with just one character on each team and one map, but there are plans to flesh that out significantly to add even more layers of tactics.

"We have a year ahead of us in development. Our next stop will be some kind of a closed alpha with only a few people and getting player feedback", says Mercure, "and an open beta after that. We'll see with player feedback what people really want with our game. I wouldn't say we want open development, but we still want to get a lot of player feedback, because we want players to love our game."

Chainsawesome Games are only confirming PC for now, but they want to launch with one console version alongside the PC version. Nothing is decided at the moment, however, as they are in talks with Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo about console opportunities. Does the core concept sound fresh and original though?
