You may think that everything in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Nintendo Switch is pretty much the same as it was in Mario Kart 8 on Wii U. That's not entirely true, though, as you can see in our direct feed gameplay videos below.

The pink boost is the biggest gameplay change not previously confirmed. If you keep drifting for about 4 seconds after the blue and the yellow sparkles appear under your car, you will get a new pink boost that's more powerful and lasts longer than the others. There is also a new game mode for single-player we hadn't heard of. It is the self-explanatory 200cc Time Attack mode.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe offers a visual improvement over the Wii U version thanks to the 1080p output in TV mode, but load times are also shorter. Now you need less than 9 seconds to start a race in the Egg Cup in TV mode, whereas in the old version it would take 13-14 seconds.
