We sat down with creative lead Martin Ganteföhr for a look at the transhumanism themed adventure State of Mind at PAX East 2017. Set in a future where man and machine is merging you'll follow the adventure of Richard Nolan as he tries to puzzle the pieces of his shattered life together.
"State of Mind is a story about transhumanism", explains Ganteföhr. "Transhumanists believe that technology will progress at exponential pace and that we will actually merge with technology, be one with machines, be able to upload ourselves to virtuality. Stuff like that."
The presentation allowed us a look at the beginning of the game, as well as a brief glimpse of Richard Nolan's alterego in an alternative world, the result of a botch mind upload, as well as a puzzle much later in the game.
Towards the end of the presentation we also asked a few questions about the highly stylised art style and the recent announcement of a version of the game for the Nintendo Switch.
"That is something we're delight about, of course," says Ganteföhr. "That this is working out. And also there has been quite some attention from the Switch scene, if you will. And it was a little bit surprising, but also it makes us happy."
State of Mind is due out in July ("I hope it's official") on PC, PS4, Xbox One, and on Nintendo Switch.
