First leaked on Polygon, then announced by Niche Gamer before being confirmed by Obsidian Entertainment's Brian Fargo on Twitter, we're getting a sequel to Pillars of Eternity. Well, first it must be funded, and that's up to you.

Although the game was announced even before the launch of the first game, we never got a name for it or what it would be about. The title for the sequel reads Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, and it's meant to pick up the story where we left off in the first game. In a press release Niche Gamer has received, we're told that the statue of Caed Nua will be in the centre of things:

"Eothas ... the god of light and rebirth was thought dead, but he now inhabits the stone titan that sat buried under your keep, Caed Nua, for millennia". Ripping his way out of the ground, he destroys your stronghold and leaves you at the brink of death. To save your soul, you must track down the wayward god and demand answers - answers which could throw mortals and the gods themselves into chaos."

Once the crowdfunding goes live on Fig, Obsidian will ask for 1.1 million dollars. You will also get to transfer your save file from Pillars of Eternity and carry on from where you left off. Does the plot sound like a worthy sequel to you, or would you have liked to see the sequel go in different directions?
