Raven software's remastering of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare received supply drops, similar to other instalments in the series, as part of the game's December update.

The December update also adds the remaining six maps from the original, as well as two new gameplay modes, which are Gun Game and Hardpoint. As of now the supply drops will only contain vanity items, which can also be earned through the in-game challenges.

You will have to use Call of Duty Points to buy the new supply drops, which equate to real world money, along with Depot Credits, which you can earn by playing the game. It seems Raven Software will also be adding Parts to the game that let you craft items that are normally found in supply drops.

Modern Warfare's new loot drops allows you to obtain such items as emblems, reticles, weapon camos, and calling cards, as well as brand new characters. Operation Arctic Wolf has also added female soldiers to Modern Warfare for the first time and you will have some new melee weapons to look forward to.

Supply drops have been a controversial edition to the latest Call of Duty games and many fans were unsure if they would find their way onto the older remaster, but it seems like an inevitable strategy for all Call of Duty games now. It is also worth noting that the new update has added a Christmas themed mode of Crash that was originally only released on PC, so this will be it's console debut.

Developer Raven Software had this to say in a recent blog post: "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is a game we want players to be engaged in for a long time. We're excited to support this great game with new content, beginning today with a ton of new customisation items that allow for a level of personalisation that wasn't possible in the original release in 2007. Personalisation is a big part of Call of Duty and something we've done in the series for a while now that fans really enjoy. But of course, we've done it very carefully as our highest priority is to retain the balance, aesthetics and player silhouettes in the game."
