Elite Splatoon players to get free Nintendo NX

Members of the best European Splatoon team will get the NX console (one each) as the main prize for the Go4Splatoon tournament, Nintendo has just announced.

The tournament for the successful Wii U shooter is being held in collaboration with the esports experts at ESL, and will kick off this Sunday. It will include weekly and monthly cups until the European finals, which are to be held in 2017.

Nintendo's new platform, still without an official name nor specs or details, is planned to launch in March. As the tournament will be running for six months, finals are likely to happen around NX launch (and extrapolating from this, an NX version of Splatoon is almost a given now).

Weekly cups include physical prizes, and winners will collect points every week as they compete for a slot in the finals via eight-team monthly finals. If you think you and your friends have the ink to compete for an NX, you can register here.
