Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, announced back in 2012, is the long-awaited sequel to Mount & Blade and Mount & Blade: Warband and Gamereactor recently got the chance to speak to TaleWorld Entertainment's Armagan Yayuz at Gamescom about the game's long development process, although Yayuz refused to promise a release date for us.

"It has been taking a long time," Yayuz said, "but that's mostly because Mount & Blade original is a very, very complex game we are pretty much trying to work on every aspect and trying to make sure everything is as good as it can be. It's taking time but we are very happy with the solutions we've come up with and the new features that we are adding so I hope that our fans will like it."

When we asked about when fans can expect the game, Yayuz was hesitant. "Well we want to release as soon as possible but we also don't want to. After putting all this work [in] we don't want to release something that isn't polished enough or will disappoint our players, so we want to make sure it is as good as we can deliver. We are not announcing a deadline or anything to not put us into a spot where we have to miss it or disappoint people so unfortunately we don't say anything."

He estimates there may be a beta or early access version of the game before the final product, however.

In terms of whether Bannerlord is coming to consoles, Yayuz responded "I definitely hope so. Of course we've got a lot of experience with Warband on consoles so we do want to put the same experience into Bannerlord as well. We don't have an agreement reached right now, but we hope to get there."
