Right at the end of Microsoft's E3 conference they brought forward details of the next console in the Xbox One family - Project Scorpio.

From the information given, it seems that Scorpio is a brand new console that will work alongside and with the Xbox One and Xbox One S, so no players will be left behind (a similar move to the one being pulled over at Sony).

It is set to be the most powerful console ever made (we don't know what the PS4K will be packing, so we'll have to take their word on that for now). It has 6 teraflops of GPU, the most powerful graphics card ever put into a console, rendering at 60Hz. They claim it will render true 4K gaming, along with full VR support. It has 8 CPU cores and will have 200GB per second of bandwidth.

Scorpio has already been shown to developers and they shared their thoughts, and in the montage of comments shown during the press event devs called it "the console that developers wanted to be built," "a console with no boundaries,"and perhaps the best sound bite of them all: "It's a monster."

Microsoft has assured us that it will not take over from Xbox One but be part of the same family and eco-system. All Xbox One games and accessories will work with Scorpio making your old purchases still valid.

We are yet to get a release date, all we know is that it will drop during the holiday period of 2017. Phil Spencer said: "It will provide opportunities for new innovation between games and developers alike."

Over to you, Sony.
