Last week Fire Emblem Fates was released in the US, about eight months after its initial release in Japan, and it seems to have been a very successful launch. Over the first three days the game more than 300,000 copies, making it the most popular game in the Fire Emblem series. In fact it destroyed the previous record held by Fire Emblem: Awakening by selling five times more when comparing the two American launches.

Business Wire has gotten a statement from Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing, and it reads as follows:

"Both fans and critics are falling for Fire Emblem Fates, and the early sales numbers prove the game's undeniable appeal. This strong momentum for Nintendo 3DS is only the beginning, as many more high-quality exclusive games are set to launch for the hand-held system over the next few months."

We are still waiting for an European launch date, but hopefully it won't be long now...
