We have not heard a whole lot about the action title Dead Island 2 lately, apart from the game's release being pushed to the second quarter of 2016. Originally it was slated for release this spring.
Now however, it seems the problems are bigger than the developers being behind schedule as publisher Deep Silver released the following statement:
"With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner YAGER. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage."
As of now the reasons behind this decision is unclear, and there has been no indications as to who will pick up the project after Yager Development. The developer of the first game in the series, Techland, are as far as we know busy making expansions for Dying Light. The question remains whether the work that Yager has done will live on or whether the project will start from scratch at a new developer.
