Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games announced

During yesterday's Japanese Nintendo Direct broadcast a new Mario & Sonic game was announced for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. With a title that rolls off the tongue in Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games it will premiere this fall (so far only confirmed for Japan, but we'd be shocked if it doesn't get released here).

Among the sports seen in the Japanese Nintendo Direct were beach volleyball, football, rugby, 100 metre dash, rhythmic gymnastics, golf and table tennis. Additionally there are some new playable characters such as Birdo, Rouge, Diddy Kong, Zazz, Nabbit and Jet the Hawk.
