As many of you might remember, Activision were quick to announce Destiny as the fastest selling new franchise in video game history. And that might be true, but not everywhere.

MCV reports that Ubisoft has confirmed that Watch Dogs still holds that record in Europe. A spokesperson for the company stated:

"You may have seen the report on Destiny's sales in the UK. Just thought you'd like to know that, across Europe, Watch Dogs remains the fastest-selling new IP ever after one week, according to GFK panel."

"Congratulations to Activision and Bungie for taking the title in North America and the UK, but Watch Dogs is still going strong and we're proud of everything that the Watch Dogs team has accomplished so far."

So there you have it. Destiny seems to have been selling better, but not by the huge margin as some may have thought. Destiny sold in to "retail stores and first parties" for a total value of $500 million on day one, but as later revealed by Activision only two thirds of that ($325 million) was sold through in the first five days.
