"We're showing off a little bit more of the co-opetition," said Siwiak of what the team were showing off during Gamescom. "So it is a four player co-operative experience and you're still working together to make it through the tombs, but the different points that the players are getting... when you get to the end of a round we actually put you guys up on podiums and whoever's scoring the highest we give you additional gems. And you can use those gems to unlock treasure chests at the end of each of the tombs. And the more gems you have, the more chests you can open, it ties into our loot system."

Speaking of how the team are handling the fiction, Siwiak said: "In Temple of Osiris we do go big especially in terms of some of the bosses we have."

"This is definitely a game that doesn't take itself too seriously. It's a classic Lara Croft adventure - so you're challenging Gods, you're fighting through Egyptian mythology here so it's more about fun gameplay and offering up an experience that you play with your friends."

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris is scheduled for release on PC, PS4 and Xbox One on December 9.
