If you don't already know, Insurgency is a hardcore first-person shooter, in the vein of Counter-Strike, that relies on teamwork and quick reflexes. Developed by New World Interactive, it was released on PC earlier this year after spending some time in Early Access on Steam.

It seems the reception that the game has received on that platform has been positive enough for the developers to be considering bringing the title to PS4 and Xbox One.

"Although the game may be considered a ‘finished' product, we are constantly evolving our vision and looking forward to growing in the years to come," game director Jeremy Blum said on the game's Steam Community page.

"We have ‘next-gen' and console ambitions. Whether or not we stay on the same engine, we will see, but one thing we know is this is just the beginning."

We picked up the game while it was still in Early Access with the intention of reviewing it for you here on Gamereactor, but we couldn't get it working on our rig for love nor money, with the game constantly crashing to desktop (we checked this morning - it works now). At least if it makes it to console we can be assured there'll be no compatibility issues that prevent us from getting stuck in.
