We talked to Capy co-founder Nathan Vella about the studio's next game, Below, which is heading to Xbox One and PC sometime this year or next.

"It's a game about exploration, inspired by roguelikes," Vella told us when describing the game. "It's a game about survival, and it's a game about discovering the game through playing it. We don't put any text on the screen, we don't put in any tutorials, we don't tell you what the controls are, we just kind of trust the player to explore."

"You play a wanderer who arrives at an island and ends up finding his way into the depths, and each screen in the depth is a level; it's just kind of the boundaries of your TV screen is a level. Those levels are randomly generated so every time you come they're going to be slightly different, and slightly new, and the exits might be in different places. And our hope is that players will explore, will figure out and kind of play with the sword and shield combat, will find some new weapons, will survive long enough maybe to discover some of the lore and backstory to the game."

REVIEW. Written by Kieran Harris

"As callous and unforgiving as it can be we still had a great time with Below."
