Tom Burt, an executive at Microsoft and owner of a Tesla Roadster has revealed that sound engineers working on both the Forza and Project Gotham Racing series had recorded sounds from his car for upcoming games or DLC. He posted this on the official Tesla site

"A team of sound engineers from Microsoft Game Studios (some working on Forza, some on Project Gotham Racing) asked if I was willing to take my Roadster to a track so they could record a variety of sounds. Some time ago they had the opportunity to record Tesla motor noises when a prototype was being run on a dyno at Tesla. But the teams were excited about the prospect of recording other sounds, particularly tire skid and squeal noises, without the interference of loud engine and exhaust noise. Of course I said "yes."

The Tesla Roadster was included in Project Gotham Racing 4, so why would the PGR team be re-recording that unless they needed it for a new game? Or perhaps Tom Burt misunderstood something?

Either way, rumours of Project Gotham Racing 5 has been making the rounds for a while now and Microsoft obviously has a Project Gotham Racing team set up with the original developer Bizarre Creations out of the picture. Perhaps we will get to know more soon.
