The creator of Cart Life has removed the title from Steam, and last year's IGF winning game's now free for all to download and play (and, perhaps more importantly, mod).

Cart Life was notoriously buggy, and Hofmeier - the game's creator - took to Twitter to explain that he was no longer going to be supporting the game: "I'm done supporting it / fixing bugs. Time to stop charging & open it up (despite fears of code nakedness)."

Although it's currently offline, as soon as it's back up and running, you'll be able to access Cart Life here. With modding support, players will be able experience new characters and different carts created by the community, and it'll be interesting to see what directions this unique retail/life simulation heads in now it's out of the hands of the man who created it.

REVIEW. Written by Mike Holmes

"Those who love it will love it, but the rest will likely despise it for all its problems, of which there are many."
