New Yoshi's Island game announced

During the latest instalment of Nintendo Direct, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata revealed the long anticipated return of fan-favourite series, Yoshi's Island. It's coming to 3DS, though we've no idea when just yet.

The gameplay shown during the livestream event showed Yoshi carrying a baby Mario on his back, and performing some of his trademark platform moves.

The new game - the third instalment in the series - is set to have new features that utilise the functionality of the 3DS, but aside from a couple of new moves, we're going to have to wait for new details coming sometime in the future.
