New Rainbow Six: Siege patch tweaks shield and Operators

Nøkk, Maverick, Glaz, and Jackal are all in the firing line, as well as those with ballistic shield equipped.

Phantom Sight is the latest content drop (or Operation) in Rainbow Six: Siege, and now Ubisoft has revealed some changes hitting the PC test server, tweaking some Operators, especially those that have a ballistic shield equipped.

The hip-fire cone has been increased for these characters, and hip-fire penalisation has been standardised when using a shield. Also, melee attacking with the shield will now only injure and down-but-not-out the enemy, rather than killing them.

Glaz players should also expect some changes, as Ubisoft has reduced the time it takes to trigger the vision penalty when moving or rotating, lowering the overall vision penalty when they're moving, and movement time before complete vision is lost has now been bumped from 2.5 seconds up to 6. The speed at which vision penalty is applied when rotating has been slowed down as well.

Those playing Jackal should expect the number of pings from a scan down from five to four, and tracking time is reduced by five seconds, which means that instead of five pings over 25 seconds, it's four pings over 20 seconds.

If you've got a Maverick near you you'll hear his torch as part of these changes as well, so you can hear when he's making a hole close to you, and Nøkk's ability duration is increased to 12 seconds, with the refill timer upped to 12 seconds too.

You can check out other bug fixes and patch notes on Reddit. Do you approve of the tweaks to Operators?

REVIEW. Written by Anders Mai

"It's in competitive multiplayer where the game shines. The matches are short, intense and always surprising."
