New Nintendo 3DS XL sales up 138% in Japan

The Japanese launch of Monster Hunter XX saw the handheld sky rocket.

According to Famitsu (via MCV) the release of Monster Hunter XX was a massive hit in Japan, as it surpassed 1 million copies sold on the first day. Capcom's game also lifted the sales of New Nintendo 3DS XL substantially, as the console saw a 138% increase from the week before the game launched.

The game is also available on the new 3DS and 2DS, both of which also experienced a sales bump with 80% and 36% respectively last week.
