The Call of Duty Twitter account announced yesterday that Alcatraz will be released as a playable Blackout map on April 2, which is today. Fans of the franchise will be delighted to hear the popular zombies map Mob of the Dead is returning with some added extras, heading to Black Ops 4's battle royale mode.
All the most memorable locations in the map will be playable, such as the docks, the working gondola, and the terrifying cell blocks where many players have met their doom before. As well as this, players will be able to take a trip up to the top of the watchtower, one of the many zones previously unplayable. Unfortunately though, it doesn't look like the plane to Golden Gate Bridge and Pack-A-Punch will be available this time.
As well as the announcement of the map, some new features were shown off, such as a flamethrower and The Fixer himself - Peter Stormare. Whilst we assume Stormare will not be a playable character, knowing the devious actions of Activision and Treyarch, anything is possible. Oh, and don't worry, The Warden won't be showing up this time around.
The new map set in the San Francisco Bay will be available for PS4 players later today and is coming to other platforms at "a later date". Likewise, Blackout is currently available for free to download as of now up until April 30, in an effort to let newer players give Call of Duty's battle royale a go.
Are you ready for Alcatraz? Maybe the trailer might prepare you.
