Activision and Infinity Ward last night showed off Gunfight, a new 2vs2 game mode coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare when it lands on October 25.
The new mode is trying to bring a new dynamic to combat for Call of Duty players, with quickfire 40-second rounds where teams of two hunt each other down and fight to the death. If one team isn't downed in the first 40, a flag appears on the map that one team must defend for three seconds (failure to do defend the flag within the time limit means the pair with the most health will win by default). The first team to six points will take the win.
The mode, which was demoed on Twitch last night doesn't allow for class selection, and weapons and equipment are determined by the game. Another interesting feature is that players won't automatically recover health when taking damage and all players have a predetermined amount of health before going in. We also got to see three new maps during the demo:
• King: The interior of a warehouse.
• Pine: The exterior of a dense forest.
• Stack: A desert container yard.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is heading to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 25, and more multiplayer details are due on August 1 (here at 10am PT / 6pm BST).
