Besides the 10 NES games given for free to early adopters of the Nintendo 3DS as compensation for the price cut earlier this year, no games from the company's classic 8 bit era has been available for purchase on the 3DS eShop. But that's set to change with the first NES title set to arrive on the Japanese version of the digital store.
You might have heard of it, it's a little game called The Legend of Zelda. According to Siliconera, it's arriving this week.
The original Zelda was among the 10 NES games handed out as part of Nintendos 3DS Ambassador programme. And as the game looks set to arrive on the eShop, Nintendo has begun updating all of the Ambassador titles with nicer icons, digital manuals and, most importantly, the ability to create and load save points, similar to what other Virtual Console titles have. A sign that the ambassador games will become available on the eShop soon, perhaps?
