Neighbourly spy game Beholder is now on Kickstarter
Warm Lamp Games is looking out for backers.
Warm Lamp Games is a Russian indie studio currently searching for funding on Kickstarter for Beholder, a disturbing new sim game set in a dystopian world ruled by a State which controls all the actions and the behavior of its citizens.
The player takes the role of a seemingly ordinary man, who is actually a spy who has the task of overseeing the behavior of citizens, rummaging in their apartments, monitoring them by placing hidden cameras, and reporting any irregularities to the police.
However, in a similar way to what we saw in Papers, Please (the fascinating indie game by Lucas Pope), the player has the option to choose which side to take: whether to be a heartless spy, or help the oppressed people while being two-faced.
The project seems very interesting, and it's also being made with a very particular style. Warm Lamp Games is looking for $25,000, and at the moment they've collected $2,600 (from 157 backers), with 20 days remaining before the end of the campaign. If successful Warm Lamp Games will release Beholder on PC and Mac in the early autumn, while the Android, iOS and Windows Phone versions are still optional.
