EA are in discussions with Chinese film companies to co-produce a film sequel to last year's Need for Speed flick.

The idea is for much of the filming to take place in China, with local actors taking major roles. It's not known whether original lead Aaron Paul will be reprising his role, but then discussion are at a very early stage: EA and its new partners have to untangle the rights from DreamWorks before they can move forward.

We are excited to work with EA, one of the world's most recognized creative companies," Variety quoted Yin Cao, chairman of China Movie Channel, as saying. "We are also delighted that much of ‘Need for Speed 2′ would be filmed in China, and we believe it will include much more Chinese talent and elements."

"It borrows from Most Wanted, which borrowed from Hot Pursuit, which takes a lot from Burnout Paradise. All in all it's hard to shake the feeling of déjà vu."
