During the most recent earnings conference call, Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg shared positive information about the overall performance of Destiny 2. According to him, Bungie's latest shooter is already the fastest-selling console game in the US this year, and has beat its predecessor in "pretty much all the important metrics".
CFO Spencer Neumann also addressed Destiny 2's promising digital sales, which bettered the success the game enjoyed at retail, even calling them "well ahead" of the respective digital sales of the first Destiny, and adding further evidence that digital sales are well and truly on the rise.
Furthermore, Hirshberg confirmed that there has been a big demand for the game's season pass (which contains both of the expansions that have been announced so far). To build on this enormous player base "multiple AAA-teams" are currently working on additional content for Destiny 2, to keep up with the player engagement.
Destiny 2's next expansion, Curse of Osiris, will release on December 5 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
