Gamescom Opening Night Live was a two-hour show yesterday packed with announcements to start the week off right for the event in Cologne, and one of these announcements was that Magic the Gathering: Arena is partnering with the Epic Games Store on PC, with a Mac version also on the way as well.

"Nothing changes for anyone currently playing Magic: The Gathering Arena. When MTG Arena launches on the Epic Games Store, it will continue to be available for direct download from MTGArena.com. Existing players on the Wizards platform will not be required to create Epic accounts," the announcement reads, clarifying that the Epic Store will be the exclusive third-party PC download partner, although you can still directly download the game at the site.

You can play alongside friends regardless of where you've downloaded your version, and the game is still being developed during open beta on PC. We're also told that "bringing the game to the Epic Games Store will be a great first step in taking Magic to new places", hence why a Mac release is on the way as well.

This isn't the only announcement from Epic Games though, as they also revealed that Oddworld: Soulstorm and MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries are Epic Games Store exclusives as well, as indicated by the highlight reel they provided during the show, which you can watch below.
