As we noted in our review earlier this week, the grind in the Towers of Time and the Krypt portions of Mortal Kombat 11 is very real, and the kickback from critics and the community alike has prompted NetherRealm to take action. The studio has promised that while some under-the-hood tweaks have already been made, the studio is going to implement more substantial changes in the coming days, and across all platforms.

On top the changes that we've listed below, NetherRealm is also handing players a "thank you gift" that consists of 500,000 Koins, 500 Hearts, 1,000 Soul Fragments and 1,000 Time Krystals, which should drop with the update and make life a little easier for players tackling some of the harder parts of the game.

The update is due on PS4 and Xbox One early next week and will include reduced AI difficulty and increased rewards in the Towers of Time, and that solitary update will include the aforementioned gift detailed above.

For those on Switch and PC, there are two patches in the works, with the first landing in the next couple of days (hopefully). These patches will see tweaked difficulty settings in the Towers, with some enemies having reduced health as well as a rebalanced frequency for some of the more potent modifiers.

A second update should then reduce AI difficulty further and increase currency rewards in the Towers of Time, effectively making them easier for players to navigate. Both PC and Switch players will have to wait until the second patch for the thank you gift, according to the post on Reddit.

REVIEW. Written by Jonas Mäki

"It's a fine version of the game. Sadly, the controller options the Switch provides aren't great."
