B.J. is back and he has to delve even deeper into the occult experiments of the Nazis then ever before as they attempt to harness the power of the Black Sun through an alternative reality called the veil. It sounds ridiculous, but this is Wolfenstein after all.

I had the chance to get my hands on the Xbox 360 version of Wolfenstein at GDC and the veil provides an interesting change in the gameplay. The veil powered weapons have a science fiction flavour to go with the World War II arsenal. I only had the chance to try one of the veil powers, mire, that allows you to slow down time. When you enter veil mode enemy weak points will be highlighted and secret passages will be revealed. Certain enemies such as the scribe, who can provide fellow Nazis with veil shielding, and the Heavy Trooper use veil powers and provide welcome variation.

The most fun is when a pocket of veil energy explodes to disrupt gravity sending Nazis floating in mid air. It's hard not to laugh as they scream "Get mii awt of hier!", "I niid a medic!" or simply "Scheisse!". Then you float up next to them and melee them to the other side. Satisfaction!
