Monster Hunter: World has officially been available since last Friday and, as you read in our review, we really enjoyed it. It seems, however, that we aren't alone, since, through an official statement, Capcom has announced that 5 million units of Monster Hunter: World have been shipped on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

It's a massive amount, which should indicate that the game has finally broken through on the world stage (after being huge in Japan for more than a decade) As we reported earlier this morning in the game topped the UK charts. This is a new record for the series, as Capcom had never distributed so many copies for a Monster Hunter game in its first three days since its launch. We recall that the data provided here, which also include digital sales, don't refer to the copies sold, but only to those shipped, though given that there's likely a good deal of digital sales baked in, it shouldn't be terribly far off from the shipped number.

Monster Hunter: World is now available on PS4 and Xbox One, while it will arrive on PC next fall.
