Modern Warfare getting open 2v2 alpha on August 23

The upcoming shooter featured during Geoff Keighley's show last night, revealing a chance for fans to try it out early.

Geoff Keighley's Opening Night Live show from Gamescom was very busy last night, providing two hours of announcements and trailers, and just before Death Stranding came in to steal the spotlight, we got some rather interesting news regarding the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

On August 23, which is this Friday, we'll be getting an open 2v2 alpha on PS4 to try the game out ahead of release on October 25, and what's more is that we also got a brand new trailer down below to accompany the announcement.

This alpha runs the whole weekend, and you don't need a PS Plus membership to get stuck in, as you can experience all five maps, including new locations Docks and Speedball. The first team to win five rounds wins the match, and there will be various loadouts to choose from, with tips and tricks available here.

We've already tried Modern Warfare this week during our time with Nvidia, and if you want to check that out then head this way.
