With Microsoft buying up studios left, right, and centre, it's easy to forget that there's another platform holder with a healthy portfolio of first-party studios, and as we reported earlier this week, Sony might be interested in adding to its collection.
Sony already has a number of top quality teams working on exclusive games, with studios such as Naughty Dog and Media Molecule reporting directly to the PlayStation creators. Now speculation has begun about developers that could potentially join the likes of Sucker Punch, and one of the companies mentioned in a new report is certainly interesting.
According to a feature in PushSquare that speculates about potential studios that Sony could acquire, Remedy (Alan Wake, Control) was mentioned. The outlet suggests that it has heard that a bid from Sony might be in the works, and mentions a visit from Sony chief Shuhei Yoshida as circumstantial evidence that a deal might be afoot. While the site says the chances are "neutral" that a deal might be done, they mention "a number of sources", so perhaps there is something to this one.
Of course, with Remedy recently grabbing the rights for Alan Wake, it could be that another deal is in the works. We'll just have to wait and see.
