When deciding between getting a game on console or PC, one of the major advantages of the latter platform is user created mods. Although not all multiplatform games are blessed with thriving mod communities, some are - particularly Bethesda's hugely popular RPGs.

Both Skyrim and Fallout 4 have deeply inventive mod communities that have built numerous additions to the games. Some tweak gameplay, others add new weapons, and some even improve the graphics.

The nature of consoles have prevented mods from ever becoming a thing there, but that's about to change. The console versions of Fallout 4 will soon begin seeing popular mods from the PC being ported over.

Microsoft and Bethesda have struck a deal that makes the Fallout 4 console mods appear on Xbox One first. In a video released last night, Microsoft's Larry Hryb showcases some of the mods that will hit Fallout 4 on Xbox One as part of the first wave. Watch that video below.

And if you're excited about mods for Fallout 4 on console, tune in to the Bethesda Twitch channel at 11pm tonight (BST), as they'll be showing off some of the mods live on console there.

REVIEW. Written by Robin Høyland

"It's awesome to see a game of this magnitude show up on the VR platform, though it is a shame that it comes with as many issues as it does."
