Microsoft and Epic want crossplay for Fortnite

It was recently announced that Fornite is going mobile and that the game will feature cross-play and shared progression across all platforms. All except one.

Late on Sunday evening, an Xbox Box-owning fan wrote on Twitter that he would really like to play Fortnite with his friends on PlayStation 4, and therefore he reached out to Xbox boss Phil Spencer. Spencer had a response that left no doubt as to his intentions and wrote: "Me 2."

A couple of hours later, the official account for Fortnite also joined in the discussion, with an equally clear message: "We 3!"

It seems like it's up to Sony to make this happen, but so far the platform holder has not been interested and even went as far as claiming that not having crossplay is actually protection for users.
