When Capcom revealed that they were going to have a livestream to celebrate Mega Man's upcoming 30th anniversary, fans of the blue hero didn't dare to hope for the announcement of a new game in the classic series. Most people only thought we'd get a new collection, but were surprised with what Capcom had up its sleeve.
The developer announced that Mega Man 11 will make its way to Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One late next year. Producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya and director Koji Oda say that they consider this a new start for the blue bomber, but that they're very careful about keeping many of the aspects fans have loved through the years. The first trailer and screenshots for the game show some of this by mixing the classic 2D platforming with 3D visuals and a new look for our blue friend.
That's all they want to share right now, but we're told to expect many more details next year. You don't have to wait that long, however, as Mega Man 11 is Game Informer's cover game next month, so you can expect to learn a bit more fairly soon.
How would you like the mix of old and new to be in Mega Man 11?
