Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is a very modern game with 3D visuals, as you'd expect, but Sega is also introducing 2D events as well, joining the rest of the competitions when it releases on November 5 in the Americas (Europe gets it on November 8) on Nintendo Switch.

The 2D events are as follows:

100m
10m Platform (Diving)
400m Hurdles
Gymnastics - Vault
Judo
Kayak Single (K-1) 1000m
Long Jump
Marathon
Shooting - Trap
Volleyball

You can take a look at the new visuals below, which should throw you back to an earlier time in gaming where Sonic, Mario, and others looked very different than they do now. These are all events from the Tokyo 1964 Summer Olympics as well, with the Japanese capital hosting the games once more next year.

Is this a good little throwback?
