Many employees left DICE this year for other developers

Almost 40 employees have moved on.

This year almost 40 employees have left Swedish developer DICE and more are expected to follow. According to Swedish site Digital, one of the major reasons was the failed launch of Star Wars Battlefront II.

"It was a debacle. For many, it was very tough to have to quickly redo the game," one of Digital's sources says.

Another suggested reason is the increasing number of game developers in the Stockholm area, which include new offices for Epic Games and Ubisoft. King and Paradox Interactive are also recruiting employees from DICE, the report adds.

At the start of 2018 DICE had around 400 employees, which means the developer has lost almost 10% of their workforce this year. With Battlefield V just around the corner then, it'll be interesting to see how that game performs.

"It never gets boring watching Yoda rip through enemy lines with his lightning-quick lightsaber (as long as he's on your side, of course)."
