Lithuanian basketball team Zalgiris Kaunas enters esports

Competing in CS:GO, League of Legends, and Hearthstone.

Lithuanian basketball team BC Zalgiris Kaunas has revealed during a press conference that they will be adding an esports branch to compete in CS:GO, League of Legends, and Hearthstone, with club director Paulius Motiejunas revealing that this has been made to keep up with innovations in the sports world.

"The power of esports allows to reach the youngest audiences," Motiejunas said. "This industry is rapidly growing and Zalgiris is happy to join the ranks. Zalgiris is a household name in basketball and we want to elevate Lithuanian esports' impact in the international stage."

Zalgiris has plans to compete on the international stage, but for now will set their sights on the Baltic region tournaments. Can they get to the international competitions though?
