Game director Arthur Parsons tells us about the latest entry in the evergreen Lego series, which follows on from Lego Marvel Super Heroes, this time focusing on The Avengers.

"It's not a direct sequel, but it's kind of a spiritual successor [to Lego Marvel Super Heroes]. I'm the game director, I was the game director on the other game. The team that I've got, the great team, it's the same team," Parsons explained.

"And this time around we are telling the story of Avengers and Avengers: Age of Ultron, in our own unique way, fun and whimsical, and really kind of celebrating everything that is Avengers. So while the story is the two movies and a little bit more, we're also adding in a load of classic comic book content, really sort of delving deep into what makes the Avengers great."

Later he added: "We have got the Avengers characters and cast that you'd expect from Avengers and Age of Ultron, but then again we're delving into the wider Avengers universe here. So our cast has got familiar characters that'll come over from Lego Marvel Super Heroes, but as well as that we're going to have over 100 new characters that have never been in the game."

Lego Marvel Avengers is heading to all the major platforms, and it should be with us before the end of the year.
