It was widely thought that the third part of The Hobbit movie trilogy would end up as part of Lego The Hobbit, likely in the form of DLC or maybe even a standalone expansion.
The Tolkien-based entry in the ever-popular Lego franchise comprised of levels based on scenes from the first two films, and it was of course expected that we would get some kind of resolution alongside the trilogy closer that's launching later this year.
It was reports from April of last year that suggested the tie-in to The Battle of the Five Armies movie would appear as DLC for the existing Lego game, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all.
"The game provides an excellent set-up for the concluding chapter of Peter Jackson's film, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies," a Warner representative said (via GameSpot). "There are no plans to develop DLC based on the final film of the trilogy."
That report also suggests that Warner Bros. has confirmed that they have no plans to release a game based on the third and final movie, which if true means that fans of the Hobbit branch of the Lego franchise will be left without the concluding chapter of the story.
