Perhaps it should come as no major surprise seeing the tremendous commercial success Warner Bros. and TT Games have had with the two previous Lego Batman titles, but we are indeed getting a third one - Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham later this year on a multitude of platforms. In fact, seen as a whole the Lego titles have sold in excess of 100 million copies worldwide.

"Building on the incredibly successful LEGO Batman franchise, we are working to make LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham the ultimate super hero videogame this year for all ages," said Tom Stone, Managing Director, TT Games. "The TT Games team is bringing LEGO Batman and an astounding amount of characters from the DC Comics universe to the next frontier with a new epic story, more gadgets and unexpected challenges."

The concept in this game is that Batman has to team up with other DC heroes to take on Brainiac who threatens to destroy the world. The adventure will take the crew to different Lantern Worlds (Brainiac wants to use Lantern Rings to destroy the world). Locations like Hall of Justice, the Batcave and the Justice League Watchtower, are said to be in the game and the cast is more than 150 characters strong "including members of the Justice League and LEGO big figures such as Killer Croc, Solomon Grundy and many more".

The game is set for release early autumn this year.
